What a great night we had last Friday enjoying the Cruising Section Christmas Party on Jetty 3.  A bbq, lots of food and a “few” drinkies were enjoyed by our members.  Even though the evening was a bit chilly it did not dampen our spirits for enjoying our Christmas Party and the end to a very challenging year.

It was great to have Our Commodore John Midolo and his wife Rose as well as our Rear Commodore Troy Dalglish join us.  John’s speech about the importance of all sections of the club being important for our club spirit and accommodating to our members’ different requirements, was a very positive note to an otherwise difficult year and his message was mirrored in our Captain Daniel Shield’s speech of good fun with good friends.

Despite only a few events being able to be run this year due to Covid-19 (picnic lunch at Pig Trough, lunch at Royal Freshwater Bay Yacht Club and the Cruising Section Christmas Party),  we are all looking forward to a much better 2021 to enjoy our many and varied events which we usually have.  There has even been a whisper on the grape vine that the Cockburn Power Boat Association have thrown down the challenge to us for the “Pirate’s Chest” which SoPYC currently hold.  This is such a fabulous fun day for all members and children to have a wonderful time being pirates and fighting off the marauders!

Our activities this year would not have come about without the hard work of the Committee.  We all know that being on a committee and giving your time voluntary can be a bit time consuming but it is so needed and appreciated and everyone wins.

From our Cruising Captain Daniel Shields and the Cruising Section Committee we would like to wish you all a VERY SAFE AND MERRY CHRISTMAS and we look forward to seeing you for a much better 2021 full of good fun and good friends.

Don’t forget to read “Coffee Pointers” to get notifications of our Cruising Section Events.
