Teens Try Sailing with Tackers, our introductory sailing course for 11 – 12 year-olds. The course aims to deliver a fun on-water experience for kids to try the sport of sailing at an affordable entry price. The course is run by Australian Sailing-accredited instructors and incorporates games, adventures, and group training drills to develop fundamental skills in a safe environment. There isn’t a court, pitch, gymnasium, or oval like other sports, instead, you have the beautiful Swan River to explore.
The Teens Try Sailing with Tackers course is $380 and runs over five 4 hour sessions, held during the school holidays.
Once sailors have completed a Teen Tackers course they may receive an invitation* to join our Open Skiff Green Fleet weekly training group to continue developing their skills and passion for the sport of sailing or alternatively may complete a second course to further develop confidence and skills in the boat before progressing.

*The invitation to join Green Fleet is based on an assessment made by the coaches and head coach, primarily around safety awareness, confidence, and competence on the water. Factors such as listening, behavior, commitment, coachability, enjoyment, support of family, size and age all play an important role in the enjoyment and success of the sailors and the whole group.
