The South of Perth Yacht Club is a great way to get out on the water and enjoy the beauty of the Swan River and beyond. We have a variety of boats that are always looking for crew, and no experience is necessary. And if sailing doesn’t float your boat, plenty of social activities to keep you busy.

How to join the club

So what are you waiting for? Join today and start enjoying the beautiful views and fresh air that only being out on or near the water can provide. Then, attend the New Members Induction, and once our Management Committee meets, you’ll be officially ratified by our Management Committee as a full member of the club! You’ll get an immediate temporary membership to access all club amenities once your application and payment are received.

Our members love the South of Perth Yacht Club

I signed up as a member of SOPYC in 2016 as an introduction crew member. I have crewed on many different-sized yachts, competing in the summer and winter series. Last year I even had the opportunity to take part in the women’s state championships with the best bunch of girls.

Perks I didn’t anticipate when I became a member are the social events which provide an excuse to get dressed up, the welcoming venue full of like-minded people to enjoy spending my time with, sailing tactics training delivered by a group of amazing experts and I live so close it just makes sense. “We joined in 2016 to have our boat penned here. I had expected that it would be somewhat like a marina with a bar and restaurant.  Pens are always at a premium, and participating in club events is a key process to securing one. I got involved in activities for that reason but found that Time Trialing was enjoyable, and the boating and social communities at the club were very engaging.6 years later we are still heavily involved, enjoy the club and events but even more so, enjoy the like-minded people we have met and become great friends with. ‘Club membership provides all the necessary facilities to keep our boats safe. More importantly, being a Member provides us opportunities to compete to win prizes, social boating activities, a friendly casual bar, organised special events and bistro restaurants to invite friends. Our introductory crew membership is perfect for those who love the idea of crewing and being out on the water but have little experience; this category is ideal for you! You can meet other crew, get experience on the water, and eventually find your next crewing partner.
