Thanet Wins Seafarer Trophy at Royal Perth Yacht Club … Cookie brings home the bacon.

The Seafarer is the most prestigious of RPYC’s invitation events, named in memory of the vessel. SoPYC Past Commodore Colin Wilson, won the inaugural event on Fayda in 1969. Repeating history, Past Commodore Guy Skinner, wins on Thanet. Richard Evans was navigating, winning with an outright score of 6 points lost. Bay Marine sponsors cheques, were presented by Captain Buzz Buzzio and Commodore Shawn Offer to our Commodore Cookie on behalf of Guy.

The afternoon event is a marathon trial with 15 checked marks including down around the Claremont bank. This is reflected in higher scores than a Club event. John and Lynne Cooper on Purrfect were 2nd, scored 13 points and Jason Claricoates and Caroline James onboard Tikkityboo were 4th with score 15 points.

The invitation events are part of the State Heat Series and scores are included in our Club results. A fun part of the events is the boat trip across to the host Club for their dinner or celebration. Thank you to Vern and Judy Bailey onboard Holidaze as host boat, providing safe passage to revelers carrying the much sort after strudels. Congratulations team… your raw scores were 6 of the top 10 in the fleet. Club results will be announced this Saturday.

Next week is the Ray D Carter event.  Looking forward to another bright sunny afternoon attracting good fleet numbers for a Club Consistency event.
