The Sailing Academy holds a clear vision primarily focused on retention, recognizing that retention can be a multifaceted issue upon deeper examination. Our areas of focus include:

  • Alignment with established classes across WA, Australia, and Worldwide.
  • Setting visionary goals and fostering transitional skills to actualize them.
  • Providing exceptional coaches who serve as champions and role models.
  • Swift identification and correction of detrimental habits that could hinder growth.
  • Prioritising skill development over immediate results.
  • Cultivating inquisitive minds that encourage self-learning.
  • Offering clear pathway options to sustain engagement in the sport.

While I personally prioritise the implementation of effective processes over a fixation on results, acknowledging that results serve as indicators of progress is important. It’s gratifying to note the remarkable results and participation achieved by our SoPYC juniors during the conclusion of the summer season’s major regattas.  A list of these below.

Moving forward for the remainder of the season, we aim to introduce cross-training initiatives designed to be enjoyable and promote further skill development through transition training. Following the school holidays and in the ensuing weeks, primarily during weekday sessions and occasionally on weekends, we’ll introduce various objectives focusing on transitioning classes and skill enhancement.
