The Winter Series sailing event was quite a challenge for the sailors due to heavy winds and rain. The weather was rough with wind speeds reaching up to 28 knots.

The windsurfers had the largest group with 12 starters, and 9 of them managed to finish all the races despite the tough conditions.

In the Optimists category, 7 sailors started and 6 finished. These small boats were handled well by the sailors even in the difficult weather.

The Open Skiffs had 3 starters, but only one boat finished all three races. The lightweight boats had a hard time in the heavy winds.

In the Laser class, 5 sailors started and 2 managed to complete all three races. They showed good control and focus during the races.

A big thank you to all the volunteers who helped out in the cold weather. They made sure things moved quickly so no one got too cold.

Special mention to the super-duo Tim & Michelle Beck, for cooking up a storm and feeding hungry sailors their delicious slow-cooked pull pork rolls, and raising some much needed funds for the centreboard section! Well done “Becks”!

The Winter Series was a tough but exciting day of sailing. The windy and rainy conditions made it a real test for all the sailors.
