There is a healthy rivalry among the navigators for the coveted Seafarers Measure Trophy. The task of ‘calling the clock,’ which is left to the skippers, is not always so welcomed.

A fleet of 16 boats, 11 with the navigator at the wheel, was challenging for the title and trophy of ‘least points’ on a sunny but brisk autumn afternoon.

Jetty 6 refreshments is always the place to be after the event. The relaxed feel onboard Dalusional is lingering from their recent vacation. Victoria’s dog, Beau, has a chilled expression after going out for a ride. Jared and Mark are proud to show me their beautiful new boat, The Tickled Pickle. On Holidaze, it was a family affair with daughter Melissa Gasper and grandson Bailey on hand to navigate for Mum, Judy. Sensational Sebastian, with Dad Anton Jennings, did a great job navigating onboard Magnifique II. Team Jola had Deb Swain in charge of the wheel and Mick calling the numbers, with support from Maria.

Results for this week were as follows: First place, least points pennant, and the trophy winners were The Pickled Tickle, skippered by Jared Tickle and navigated by Mark Hayman, with a loss of 13 points across the 11 checked marks.

Troy accepted the 2nd place pennant for Victoria Blanckensee onboard Dalusional, for her score of 16. Not in his usual Commodores uniform, Troy was looking dapper in a green velvet jacket, dressed for Royal Perth’s Carnivale Commodores Ball, while Vic had dashed off home to glam up too.

Third place went to Caroline James onboard The Dolphin, with Jason Claricoates just a point behind with 19 points. Lynne Cooper was very happy to be nominated and picked for this week’s Bent Prop and the $100 voucher donated by Wilson Marine, apparently for getting lost on the course.

Next Saturday is State Heat 3 at Royal Perth, vying for their Seafarers Trophy. Separate nominations MUST be in by tomorrow, Wednesday, for a start time. Good luck to our team, up against keen competition and healthy fleet numbers from Royal Freshie and Royal Perth Yacht Clubs.

Please ignore the Redbook date for the Advanced Time Trialling Course listed for Sunday, 25 June. This will be scheduled for later in the season if there is interest shown.
