Saturday turned out to be a sensational day for a time trial – no wind, warm sunshine and a perfect spring day, so it was a little disappointing that only eleven ladies nominated for this year’s trial.

What they may have lacked in quantity though, they made up in quality. Victoria did her best to stop Caroline from making it back to back wins, but in the end the pair could not be separated and for the first time in the event’s history, the trophy was shared between them in an unbreakable tie, presented by the Ladies’ Lunch Group representative, Val Barron. Their score of 11 points lost over ten checkpoints was a very good result, proving that the ladies can be every bit as competitive as their male counterparts!

Maria and Cookie filled third place on 16 points – a huge relief for Cookie who managed to not only ensure that he had enough fuel on board (he put a couple of hundred litres in) but also set the clock on correct time.

Marion Boswell kept River Run’s tradition alive by taking out the wooden spoon, but with only 28 points lost, that was a very tough result really. I has been great to see River Run taking up time trialling with enthusiasm in their first season.

On that subject, John and Leesa have sold Accrewed Interest. Chris and Joe, the new owners, have joined the Club and we look forward to including them in the time trial fleet next season.

Next week is our final consistency event for this season.  Don’t forget that it will be a morning start, competing for the Capital Cup and heading back to the Club to watch the Grand Final on the big screen TV’s. If you intend dining at the Club, don’t forget to book a table.  It is bound to be a busy day!
