Royal Freshwater Bay Yacht Club member JM Zeffert first extended the invitation to compete for the Kylie Cup, named after his boat, 66 years ago. Arguably the most prestigious event for Power Yacht time trailers on the Swan River, this year, the Sunday morning event attracted a fleet of 46 boats from 7 clubs.  The long course with 16 checked marks concluded with a complementary Pig on a spit roast lunch and results on the lawns.  7 teams represented SoPYC.

The trophy winner, decided on a countback was Corinne Adele 122, Razvan and Ioana Vlad representing RPYC. With a score of just 7 points lost, this was a truly amazing performance for a skipper and navigator in only their fourth Time Trial event ever!  Second place on the countback also with a score of 7 points was the current State Champion boat Havana 240 representing RFBYC, Tim Cummins and Ken Stevenson. The best of our fleet was Thanet, PC Guy Skinner and Fiona Lyons in 3rd place, also on a countback with a score of 8 shared with RFBYC boat Azure and Dalusional Commodore Troy Dalglish and RC Victoria Blanckensee finishing 5th. Rounding out placegetters from SoPYC fleet were Lone Star, Garry Morrison and Amanda Watson finishing in 7th place also on a countback from Stramash 200 with 9 points lost.

Kylie Cup is a State Heat event however the results do not count for our SoPYC Club 15 consistency events. The last State Heat is on the Saturday 9th September event score does count towards your SoPYC Consistency result next so please remember to nominate at Claremont Yacht Club.
