Final State championship heat last weekend. Conducted by SoPYC on behalf of Claremont Yacht Club, the last heat of the season made up for some of the rotten weather tossed our way during the winter months, with bright sunshine and a light, balmy southerly – perfect for time trialling.

The Blue Flash (aka Thanet), with Leanne Fallows in the navigator’s bean bag in the absence of the recovering Richard Evans, stunned the fleet with another fine performance.  Guy and Leanne completed the course with the loss of only 4 points, sharing least points lost with Freshie’s Havana, whose horror run with changes of speed has been overcome. Justin and Anton were also in good touch, Stillwater finishing with 5 points, one ahead of Troy and Victoria with six.

Ladies take the helm next Saturday, so don’t forget to nominate early to give our hard working Matt Doyle plenty of time to get the event set up.

And don’t forget that our traditional closing day fun day will make way for the postponed Capital Cup and will count for consistency points.  The course will remain 419 to ensure that everyone gets back to the Club in plenty of time for the AFL Grand Final. If you’re planning to have lunch at the Club, please book a table with F&B.  Demand is sure to be heavy.
