Australian Sailing Club Conference 2022

It was great to attend the Annual AS Club and Instructor conferences over the weekend along with SoPYC’s Premo Jax (Marketing) and Caitlin Elks (Training Coordinator)

Australian Sailing sent over:

  • Alistair Murray, AM (Vice President)
  • Ben Houston – Chief Executive Officer
  • Ben Callard – National General Manager – Club Support
  • Sarah Ogilvie – Head of Sport Development and Growth
  • Glen Stanaway – Head of Governance, Rules and Safety
  • Plus all the new WA staff
So it was a fairly major commitment from Australian Sailing and a great opportunity to hear the strategic plan and challenges and successes from around Australia and WA.
For those that missed the conference and would like to know more, the notes will be available here.  Whilst the upload is pending there are other State conference notes available on the same page.
One of the main pillars in the strategic plan is growth and there are some good guidelines in this document which is available here.

Weekend Sailing

Was great to see 27 eager junior and youth sailors training and the 13 Keelboats competing in the frostbite series on Sunday, in a squally westerly wind with some nice rain clouds to study.

Instructor and Coach courses

We’ve had a great response so far for some additional coaches to get skilled up and qualified to assist over summer.  If you are interested in assisting we definitely need more instructors and support.  Click here for more details.

Well done David Luketina – ILCA 6 2nd place in Grand Masters

Well done Dave. Look forward to hearing more details once you recover from jet lag.
