In preparation for the Women’s Keelboat Regatta on March 19, a training session was held in Matilda Bay on Sunday March 6. We had 2 x Foundation 36 from SoPYC and a team from RFBYC. The focus was start practice so the course was windward/leeward with the windward mark being approx. 100 metres away to keep the pressure on.
Not sure how many starts were conducted however the starts got better and the racing more competitive with each race. We used Bravo course start boat with a rib as umpire boat.
There were some very close finishes with Mara’s team in R2D2 winning by less than 1 metre in the 2nd photo. This training session was only possible due to the owners of R2D2 and Slippery When Wet generously providing their boats. We also had John Holder, Neil White, Barry Glazier, Graeme Lillingston, Con Macarlino, Phillip Draber, Alan Sharpe and Bernie Kaaks assisting in various roles.
