The CPYA State Heat 4 was hosted by Royal Freshwater Bay Yacht Club. The course start and finish were handy for our SoPYC fleet being just nearby our Club at Foam and Heathcote spits respectively.  38 boats including 12 SoPYC teams, crossed the Foam start line on a chilly but sunny afternoon.

Results were posted online, so just a small group of competitors travelled back to Freshie with Commodore for sundowner drinks. The competition was strong with just 2 points splitting top 3 SoPYC places.  Congratulations Troy Dalglish and Victoria Blanckensee on Dalusional with a score of 7 to collect another least point’s and first place.  That makes Dalusional’s season tally of 5 least points flags from his last 5 starts, placing them well in contention for a podium finish in September for both Club and State. Finishing just one point behind Troy were John and Lynne Cooper onboard Purrfect with a score of 8 points lost.  Jason Claricoates and Caroline James on Tikkityboo were stiff to score 2’s at the start and finish, to score 9 points and third place. M&M’s, Cookie and Helen Taylor navigating came in 4th place with 12 points.  Doug Smith with Angie Kaaks onboard Reel Thirsty scored 15 points for 8th place. Unusually for Guy and Richard, Thanet were outside the top ten. Blue Flash scored 21 bolstered by a ‘Wrong Side of Mark’ 10-point penalty at Lucky Bay spit.

Next week The Dalglish Family Trophy will be presented to best handicapped score by Past Commodore Frank Dalglish.
