Last Wednesday Sailability@SoPYC undertook the task of purging our Windrush’s old name from the Ledger of the Deep (and from Poseidon’s memory!), and renaming the boat in honour of our founding Coordinator, the wonderful Lynne Newton.

Lead by a brilliant speech from Master of Ceremonies Mark Pops Popham, a geographically challenged Norse God David Staniforth-Smith took us through the required purging and re-naming rituals by pouring Jane Brook champagne over the bow into the river and flinging flutes of the stuff to the North, West, East and South, for approval of the respective wind gods: Boreas, Zephyrus, Eurus and Notus!

All Sailability@SoPYC volunteers thank you Lynne for paving the way and setting such a high standard. None of us would be here today helping folks with disability to get out and enjoy the water without your inspiration and tireless efforts.
