A half an hour under the AP was time well spent before the final 2 heats of the Club Championship on Sunday. The line of westerly breeze ambled down the river giving RO Les the confidence to kick the afternoon into gear and see if Greg and Mike (The Answer) could wrestle the series from the grip of Nick and Brad (Ineffable). ‘The Answer’ won the first race and a couple of uncharacteristic errors from ‘Ineffable’ had 1 point between them as they went into the last race. Nick got his head together, nailed the start and the series.
Next week it’s the conclusion of the consistency series and, while the protagonists vary, the equation is nearly the same. John and Kevin (Final Fifteen says she) are in a strong position but it’s still mathematically possible for Sandy and Greg (Fly in the ointment) to take the chocolates.
Before all that can take place, the traditional curry night needs to be negotiated and is set for Friday night in the centreboard clubhouse. This is an opportunity for sailors to exhibit some of their land based skills rather than those reserved for the water. Mary-Anne has already circulated the details so check your in boxes.
