The annual cruise to Rockingham was ever popular with 10 boats and 25 plus members and friends enjoyed a weekend hosted by TCYC.  A few lucky boats headed down to Rockingham on Friday, including Barry and Betty Walsh onboard their yacht, Twitch making the trip down from FSC. The remaining fleet were greeted on Saturday morning with marquees, flags, street markets live music and pop-up restaurants along the foreshore to set the vibe for a fun weekend.

Our members gathered on the TCYC forecourt on Saturday evening for sunset drinks and to mingle with fellow visiting sailors from Fremantle.  A long table style seating was reserved for our group who enjoyed a delicious and generous bistro meal. Thank you to our hosts TCYC, who provided a complimentary $15 drink voucher per night with their mooring bookings.

A windy night was followed by a rainy morning and gray skies.  The easterly wind subsided and swung by mid-morning and the sun tried hard to shine through the clouds. The noise and the crowds grew in anticipation of the afternoon beach Horse Racing. Most members boats remained on their moorings, choosing to tender into the jetty for a closer view of the equine parade and racing.

The Rockingham Weekend Cruise is always a fun weekend… the weather wasn’t the best, but never dampening the enthusiasm of our members to gather. Thank you to event and moorings organiser for the Cruising Section, Garry Morrison. Moorings are booked for 2024.
