CPYC Heat 6: A beautiful blue sky dotted with cotton wool clouds, greeted time trailers making their way to Applecross Spit start line for State Heat series number 6.  The course was quite leisurely taking the fleet clockwise around the river to Bicton, across to Claremont bank then back up the river closer to home, finishing at Heathcote Spit.  Afterward the time trail, some crews joined the Raft Up over at Royal Perth, while others enjoyed the chance to return to their pen early and mingle on jetty 6 to await the results.

34  boats took to the course, sadly a very small fleet for a State Heat, especially with only 14 SoPYC teams competing. Despite the low turnout, SoPYC managed to fill 5 of the  first 10 positions in the provisional results.

Some scores are still subject to protest, however congratulations must go to Steve Wall with team Amazon  collecting their 3rd win so far in the CPYC State Heat series to add to the two  2nds  and a 4th  flag. This may mean Amazon has an unassailable lead to win the series with just 2 more heats to run, the Sunday morning invitation event, the Kylie Cup at RFBYC on 29th August and the final Heat 8 on Saturday the 4th September.

Club Time trailing returns this Saturday with a full program of results afterwards. The Graeme Hood Memorial trophy competition  is a handicap & consistency event. Everyone has a chance to take home a flag and remember twice as many prizes when more than 20 boats compete and results are tabulated into 2 random fleets, more flags, more bell rings.

Please  also be reminded to be up and into the bar by 5.30pm at  latest to be in the draws for giveaway drinks and meal vouchers.  Results for The Seafarers Measure- Navi Skips event from Commodores Ball day, Graeme Hood Memorial trophy and the Club results for Saturdays Heat 6 will all be announced,  with our wonderful sponsors handing over the trophies. It will be a huge night of celebration for all the winners.

So for loads of fun and laughs. Go out and time trail on Saturday, plan to come back to the bar to stay on for results  and maybe gather table of friends to dine on some of the delicious meal selections from the winter menu.  Word is the  Beef Cheeks and the curries have been very popular.
