The summer season will be over by the end of this week and our winter program will be commencing shortly after. But before that, we celebrate the series winners of the Jane Brook Wines Midweek Summer Series tomorrow and judging by today’s forecast, the breeze is looking very promising. For those with Yacht Bot trackers, it appears the system is operational again following the office fire at Yacht Bot, so we will try again tomorrow.

The DF95 summer season saw our Flying Fifteen and Viper 640 champion, Nick Jerwood add another feather to his cap by taking out the very first DF95 Club Championship and in convincing style. Our remote control yachties compete every Friday from 3pm in front of the Club. Come on down, front row seats guaranteed.

With the Keelboat consistency and championship series done and dusted, it only leaves our Closing Day Commodore’s Trophy race to complete the season. The last time this race was run was at the end of the 2018-2019 season and featured Spacesailer 22s in the first 3 places.  A great class effort SS22s, but you can expect you’ll have to work a lot harder this time around. Supplementary Sailing Instructions are now available – click here. The start times will be available on Thursday and will be sent direct to nominated skippers.

For all Off The Beach classes, Sunday will mark the final of the Consistency Series and specifically for the Bravo Course classes, Sunday will also be the final of the Club Championships.

Just as the date and format of the Keelboat Prize Night has changed, in a similar fashion so to0 has the Centreboard Prize Night. Centreboard trophies will now be awarded on Friday 28th May 2021 starting at 1800. Further details to come.

As promised last week, the Keelboat Frostbite Sailing Instructions are now available – click here. It is now known as ‘The Good Grocer Frostbite Series’. There are already 57 boats nominated (click here) and there is still time for new boats to nominate by selecting the Saturday Series (click here).

Attention Midweek sailors: Just as a general bit of advice, following the start and when the RPYC boats are charging down towards Foam Buoy for the first time, do try to keep well clear of that area otherwise your pleasant afternoon sail could turn into a real demolition derby. We want to avoid ugly scenes like this, so after rounding Sampson Spit, pass Foam Buoy (55) to starboard and stay safe.

Alright, that’s it. Let’s roll!     Hey, let’s be careful out there.

Notice to Competitors

Please keep checking here for important race information for both Keelboats and Off The Beach Boats.

REMOTE CONTROL YACHT RACING

There is a regular group of Members who meet each Friday afternoon at 3pm on the Western Hardstand for a couple of hours of intense racing and camaraderie.

Visitors are warmly welcomed to sit and watch or even give it a go. You only need to ask.

To register your DF95 yacht for racing, simply use the entry button below and select the Singlehanded classes section.

EQUIPMENT AUDIT FORMS

Skippers, please note that your Equipment Audit Forms have now expired as of June 30. To be eligible to compete in the new season starting from Opening Day on Oct 4, a new Equipment Form must be submitted online. Most, if not all Skippers have had their previous Audit form submitted online via YachtSafe already, so it should be relatively easy to resubmit a new form in time for your first race of the new season and the good news is that you can view your previous form in Past Audits on your YachtSafe dashboard.

YACHT TRACKERS

The ability to replay club fleet races is now available. Try the free Yacht Bot tracking software yourself. It can be downloaded and installed on your smartphone or tablet via an App. If you interested and don’t mind taking your electronic device with you on the water, please let us know. Past races can be viewed using the button below.
