Following on from a successful night out on the ocean last Saturday, the winners of the SoPYC 75th Anniversary Night Race as well as the 75th Anniversary Cup Series will be presented their awards after the Midweek presentations this week. Results from the Night Race can be found by clicking here.

Originally scheduled for Friday 14 May, the Keelboat Prize Night has had a date change and will now be held following the Frostbite race on Sunday 30 May 2021 in the Ballroom. The format will follow the success of last year’s Keelboat Awards where entry is free to everyone and skippers, crew and supporters celebrate together.

Next week the Keelboat Frostbite Sailing Instructions will be available. It will now be known as ‘The Good Grocer Frostbite Series’. There are already 57 boats nominated (click here) and there is still time for new boats to nominate (click here). More information on this series will be forthcoming next week.

Royal Perth Yacht Club are inviting Keelboats to register the Diggers Cup on Sunday 25 April! To register, click HERE. Registrations close Wednesday 14 April at 1800

The Old Gaffers Association of WA want to invite all gaff rigged boats to join in their 23rd Swan River Regatta at Royal Freshwater Bay Yacht Club on Sunday, 2nd May 2021. For further details, please click here.

Attention Midweek sailors: Just as a general bit of advice, following the start and when the RPYC boats are charging down towards Foam Buoy for the first time, do try to keep well clear of that area otherwise your pleasant afternoon sail could turn into a real demolition derby. We want to avoid ugly scenes like this, so after rounding Sampson Spit, pass Foam Buoy (55) to starboard and stay safe.

Alright, that’s it. Let’s roll!     Hey, let’s be careful out there.

Notice to Competitors

Please keep checking here for important race information for both Keelboats and Off The Beach Boats.

REMOTE CONTROL YACHT RACING

There is a regular group of Members who meet each Friday afternoon at 3pm on the Western Hardstand for a couple of hours of intense racing and camaraderie.

Visitors are warmly welcomed to sit and watch or even give it a go. You only need to ask.

To register your DF95 yacht for racing, simply use the entry button below and select the Singlehanded classes section.

EQUIPMENT AUDIT FORMS

Skippers, please note that your Equipment Audit Forms have now expired as of June 30. To be eligible to compete in the new season starting from Opening Day on Oct 4, a new Equipment Form must be submitted online. Most, if not all Skippers have had their previous Audit form submitted online via YachtSafe already, so it should be relatively easy to resubmit a new form in time for your first race of the new season and the good news is that you can view your previous form in Past Audits on your YachtSafe dashboard.

YACHT TRACKERS

The ability to replay club fleet races is now available. Try the free Yacht Bot tracking software yourself. It can be downloaded and installed on your smartphone or tablet via an App. If you interested and don’t mind taking your electronic device with you on the water, please let us know. Past races can be viewed using the button below.
