The end is nigh. First sign of the fore coming end of the summer sailing season is usually heralded by the the final race of the Twilight Series and I’m afraid folks that we’ve now reached that point. Weather is looking very warm and light, so let’s make it a memorable one.  Many thanks this season to the Twilight Start Team Race Officer Sandy Dunn, Back Up RO Bernie Kaaks and ably assisted by Lana Kaaks and Val Barron for their valuable contribution to the season.

The DF95 skippers are getting serious with Club Championships running every first Friday of the month from Jetty 1 (Fuel Jetty) and after 5 months now, we can confidently announce who the series leader is. Drum roll please…..Nick Jerwood! Apologies, for what must be world’s worst kept secret.

This Friday afternoon will be a battle on water for the annual Grand Sponsors Regatta. Six teams representing our Grand Sponsors will be fleet racing on the Canning River directly in front of our clubhouse giving our youth skippers a chance to show off their BW8 Keelboat skills. Racing begins at 1645.

Alright, that’s it. Let’s roll!     Hey, let’s be careful out there.

Notice to Competitors

Please keep checking here for important race information for both Keelboats and Off The Beach Boats.

EVENTS

TWILIGHT SERIES

Experience racing into the sunset and finishing under a brilliant summer moon that only the Twilight Series can offer. If you’re lucky you may even catch the ISS streak overhead. Twilights have been designed with short courses to keep boats relatively close to the Club and being jib and main only boats are not so dependant on skilled crew required for spinnaker work, keeping in line with the more relaxed style of racing Twilights are known for.

SATURDAY SERIES

If you’re looking for maximum speed, then the Saturday Series can provide. This is the day where boats require all hands on deck to handle the fast downwind runs experienced when the Freo Doctor’s strong summer sea breezes kick in and colourful ballooning spinnakers fill the river.

REMOTE CONTROL YACHT RACING

There is a regular group of Members who meet each Friday afternoon at 3pm on the Western Hardstand for a couple of hours of intense racing and camaraderie.

Visitors are warmly welcomed to sit and watch or even give it a go. You only need to ask.

To register your DF95 yacht for racing, simply use the entry button below and select the Singlehanded classes section.

EQUIPMENT AUDIT FORMS

Skippers, please note that your Equipment Audit Forms have now expired as of June 30. To be eligible to compete in the new season starting from Opening Day on Oct 4, a new Equipment Form must be submitted online. Most, if not all Skippers have had their previous Audit form submitted online via YachtSafe already, so it should be relatively easy to resubmit a new form in time for your first race of the new season and the good news is that you can view your previous form in Past Audits on your YachtSafe dashboard.

YACHT TRACKERS

The ability to replay club fleet races is now available. Try the free Yacht Bot tracking software yourself. It can be downloaded and installed on your smartphone or tablet via an App. If you interested and don’t mind taking your electronic device with you on the water, please let us know. Past races can be viewed using the button below.
