We recently enjoyed a fascinating ladies lunch event, where Dr. Robert Mead presented “The Mystery of the Drowned Girl: Pecos Jane Doe.” The intriguing case of a young woman found drowned in a motel pool in 1966, with her enigmatic companion disappearing without a trace, captivated everyone in attendance.
Dr. Mead guided us through the decades-long investigation, culminating in a breakthrough in 2020 using forensic genetic genealogy. The truth behind the name written on the woman’s foot, her identity, and the elusive Mr. Battuon was finally revealed.
The event was both enjoyable and intellectually stimulating, and the delicious food served only added to the delightful experience. Everyone had a fantastic time, leaving with a newfound appreciation for the intricate work that goes into solving cold cases.
