SoPYC Young Sailor and Coach Lachland Putt has made headlines by winning the overall Light Weight division of the Windsurfer LT State Championship series. Lachy has had an outstanding season and his win in the State Championship is another feather in his cap.

Lachy is a versatile sailor who can handle a range of boats. He has won the 125 Nationals with Ryan Sherburn and is a well-rounded sailor who can jump on any boat from 125, 29ers, IQFoil (his main class) to keelboats. Lachy is also a current member of the SoPYC Youth Keelboat Team and coaches at the club at various levels.

The West Australian State Championships was a hard-fought event, and Lachy faced some tough competition in windy conditions. However, he managed to come out on top and secure the top spot in the Light Weights division. The results were calculated from combined results from Course, Slalom, and Marathon races.

Lachy’s win is a testament to his skills and determination. He is an inspiration to young sailors who want to pursue their dreams and achieve success in sailing. The SoPYC community is proud of Lachy’s achievements and wishes him all the best for his future endeavors.

The State Championship series also saw some other talented sailors win in their respective categories. Kelvin Ussher won the Medium Weights division, Craig Bell secured the top spot in the Heavies, and Tina Harrison won the Women’s Division. Dave Thomas emerged victorious in the Cruiser Class Overall.
