The 78th Summer Season Opening Day was held on Sunday 8th October 2023. With a bagpiper out front of the Club to greet arriving guests, special guest speaker Skip Lissiman to present, and some amazing hospitality, the day was sure to shine.

After the official opening formalities, seamlessly delivered by IPC Michael Cook, and featuring speeches from Commodore Troy Dalglish and Mr Skip Lissiman, a naming ceremony was conducted on the front lawn for our latest Club vessel the Ballina C . The vessel is named in honour of Club Patron/Past Commodore/Life Member Colin Cowden and his beloved vessel.

After the ceremony Flag Officers moved to the end of Jetty 1 to receive the traditional Sail Past which included St Ayles skiffs, Power Boats, Keelboats, and various Centreboard Classes. By the time racing commenced there was over 100 vessels on the water either competing, spectating, or supporting, a huge result.

On returning to shore, with so many vessels that took to the water, the Yachtsman’s Bar was a buzz with sailors to hear the day’s results.

Thank you to VIP vessel owners, members, guests, volunteers, and staff for making the day a great success.
