    MARINA SAFETY COMPLIANCE (MSC) SELF-INSPECTION GUIDE & FORM

 
Inspection of your vessel is a FOUR-step process.

• Access the online form and SUBMIT at step THREE.

• DOWNLOAD & SAVE A COPY OF SoPYC MP&M REGULATIONS (HERE)  
• (Please ensure you have a complete understanding of the Regulations document)
• If you are unsure of your vessel's compliance with any item in the checklist, firstly consult the MP&M Regulations. If still unsure, contact an MSC Inspector to discuss (contact details below).
• If necessary, rectify any non-compliant issues.
• The intent of this mutual Self-Inspection stage is to ensure all items are compliant prior to your inspection and minimize the possibility of time-consuming repeat inspections by our volunteer MSC inspectors. 

• SUBMIT the ONLINE FORM
• An MSC Inspector will then contact you to arrange an appointment for the inspection.

• Meet with the MSC Inspector at your vessel for the inspection, which usually takes 15-30 minutes.
• When your boat inspection is complete, a new MSC Sticker is issued which notes your next inspection date.
• This must be displayed for water pens on the port side of your vessel near the DoT registration sticker or for land pens and ramp passes on the starboard side of your vessel’s trailer.

Acknowledgment

It is specifically drawn to your attention that the issue of an MSC Sticker signifies only that the relevant vessel complies with the MSC requirements of SoPYC. The MSC Sticker does not indicate that the boat meets any standard of seaworthiness, neither will it infer that the boat is safe for use in either protected or unprotected waters.

None of the SoPYC Officers, Employees, Members or MSC Inspectors will incur any liability whatsoever as a result of injury, loss or damage resulting from any person relying upon the issue of an MSC Sticker as being indicative of the general safety of the vessel operated on protected or unprotected waters.

Should the vessel not meet the MSC inspection requirements, at the discretion of the MSC Inspector I may be required to remove the vessel from the SoPYC marina, rectify shortcomings and arrange a return for re-inspection.
If the vessel is permitted to remain in the SoPYC Marina I will be required to rectify shortcomings and arrange re-inspection in a defined timeframe, as determined by the MSC inspector.
