Get ready for something completely new at this year’s Goolagatup Sailing Carnival — the very first Freestyle Cup. This fun, high-energy showcase invites Optimist, Open Skiff, ILCA 4 and Windsurfer LT sailors to step outside the usual race format and show off what they can really do.

Competitors will have two minutes in their designated on-water ‘box’ to perform a routine designed to impress. Think creativity, skill, flair — and yes, entertainment absolutely counts. Judges will be looking at difficulty, execution and overall showmanship, so whether it’s smart boat handling, clever manoeuvres, or a bit of personality (singing and dancing included!), this is your moment to shine.

Entry is limited to 15 sailors per fleet, on a first-in, best-dressed basis. Simply sign on at the registration area before 10:30am on the day. Time slots kick off from 11am and must be filled consecutively.

A support boat will manage each zone to keep things flowing and ensure everyone stays clear while routines are underway. Just remember — all manoeuvres must be performed within the box and within your allotted time.

At the end of the day, winners walk away with more than just glory… they get bragging rights until next year’s Carnival!
