ILCAWA was the top performing State at the Nationals

The 2025 Oceania & Australian Open & Youth Championships were held at the Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron in Manly Queensland.

Racing started on Friday 3rd January and continued through until Wednesday 8th January for a total of 12 races in a wide range of conditions.

The ILCA 4 (92 entries) and the ILCA 6 (85 entries) were both sailed in split fleets, whilst the ILCA 7s (46 entries) sailed as a single fleet.

Full results can be found here.

Following our fundraising efforts, ILCA WA managed to have three coaches in attendance (Tristan Brown - WAIS ILCA 7, Chris Charlwood - ILCA 6 & Oliver Pabbruwe - ILCA 4). Great effort from coaches and sailors.

You will notice from these results that the standouts from a SoPYC perspective were:
ILCA 4
18th - Murray Duthie

ILCA 6
24th - Luke Carrick

ILCA 7
5th - Michael Compton
17th - Patrick Scally

The "Battens Trophy" is awarded to the best performing state across all classes at the ILCA Nationals.

As a consequence of our strong results, WAIS is pleased to report back that WA is bringing that trophy back where it belongs!
