Venue Windsurfer Worlds 2023 - South of Perth Yacht Club

Melville Water is Perth’s primary sailing location with steady sea breezes on really flat water. SoPYC is only minutes away from the best part of the river. We can use a window of the days sunlight to sail in almost any wind strength. Perfect for Windsurfing.

Location

SoPYC is relatively central to the Perth region and easily accessible by car, bus, or rail. Shops including IGA, Woolworths, Take Away foods and restaurants are all close by. Also pharmacies, doctors, and other shops. From South Perth its’ quick access to Perth City, Fremantle, Northbridge, Local beaches and the Airport.

About the Club

South of Perth Yacht Club enjoys a spectacular location on the Swan and Canning Rivers overlooking Perth City.
It is a club with around 2000 members and covers a substantial area with great resources as follows:

Junior Clubhouse

Registration, Merchandise, and Media.
Canteen and outside BBQ area.
8 toilets, 8 male and 4 female showers.
Boat sheds for charter boards

Race Committee (Committee room), Jury ( Heritage Room), 2 toilets areas.

St Georges College – for cheap university Accommodation across the river

The University Of Western Australia, St George’s College, has student rooms and even a few townhouses that it rents out during Uni holidays.
Different options range in price, depending on whether you have an en-suite or if you’re willing to share a room. At the cheapest, (shared double room and shared bathroom) your looking at $70 pp per night. 5 sharing one of their townhouses would be $95 pp per night. If you want your own single room with an en suite that’s $140 a night.
The accommodation is 11km from the South Of Perth Yacht Club. It’s a $20 Uber ride. This is an excellent option if you can share the ride.

PERTH AIRPORT TO CITY HOTELS – TRAIN – Exit arrivals hall then take lift to elevated 250 metre walkway to Airport Central Station. the train to Perth City platform 8 – 19 minutes.

PERTH CITY TO SOPYC- TRAIN -Underground station take Mandurah line to Canning Bridge Station – 8 minutes, then a 15 minute flat walk to SOPYC.
