Containers for Change and Scouts WA
Just a friendly reminder to keep the cardboard and wine bottles out of the blue scout bins. Last week’s collection had a considerable amount of Rubbish and Ineligible Items. As a result we had to remove two bins as they were so heavily contaminated.
It costs the club to dispose of the waste and it’s also wasting the Scouts resources. Unfortunately we can’t keep having to cover Rubbish Disposal Fees.
Thank you for your understanding and your support to Scouts WA.

Liberty fleet rounding the top mark
The Hansa State Sailing Championships organised and hosted by the Sailability Section at South of Perth Yacht Club concluded on Sunday after eight races sailed over three days, in what were fantastic sailing conditions at a great venue.
There were 16 boats sailing with the vast majority of them either having a skipper or crew with disabilities.
In the Liberty fleet it went down to the last race with only one point separating second overall, Genevieve Wickham, from the winner Mike Cull. Elliott Coe was third.
In the 303 singles, Robert Crofts was a runaway winner with Chris Oldham from Albany second and Bryce Hinton third.

Liberty fleet on the breeze
In the 303 Doubles we had two ladies who have only recently commenced learning to sail and were competing in their first ever regatta and they were awarded most improved sailor awards. Thanks to their crews and mentors Jen Sims, Kate Lammonby and Scott Hinton.

Jean Gilbert, Rear Commodore Clive Blowers and Lorelle Hughes
We had in excess of 30 different Club members and Sailability volunteers helping out over the four racing sessions, some of whom were there for all three days helping. Without our volunteers there would be no regatta, so many thanks to you all. Thanks also the SoPYC and RPYC Sailability programs for their support and for the support of their major sponsor Healthway’s Act, Belong Commit program. The RPYC program lent us a special Sailability safety rhib and provided other assets and support.
Many thanks to our Sailing Administrator, Sharon Skinner who handled everything at the Club end with aplomb. Thanks also to our Club for the use of the two poly boats and everything else needed to run regattas. Finally, thanks to the Flag Officers for their involvement and support of the regatta and the Sailability Section at the Club.
Sailability at SoPYC is run by a group of dedicated club members and active volunteers every Wednesday morning giving participants each week the joy and experience of sailing.
We have a waiting list of people wanting to sail but are we limited by not having enough volunteers to assist us. Volunteers are always welcome – contact Liz on 0419 949 006 or email sailabilitysopyc@gmail.com
