Dear Member,

Don’t miss out on an opportunity to get a “hands-on” introduction to Racing Skills on Keelboats. Get experience with how to setup and trim sails, set transits, manage lay lines and do timed starts. Get to know the rules of sailing as applied around the course and rounding marks, and an introduction to starting / racing / and finishing tactics.
Learn about reading the wind, oscillating and persistent shifts, and ladder rungs. Wrap up with a number of hands-on mini regatta race days.

This is your last chance to register for the Sailor Development Program Racing Skills course due to start next week. See the program outline for full details.

All programs will operate with a minimum of 3, and maximum of 5, trainees on each boat.
At the completion of these programs, your coaches will introduce you to the next stages at SoPYC for longer-term development of your sailing skills. Racing skills development continues at the club year-round in fleet, match and teams racing.
Participants must be a member of South of Perth Yacht Club. Crew membership can be arranged with the club which currently offers an Introductory Crew membership (limited to 2 years) at a discounted cost (pro-rated to July).

There are no formal course fees, however participants are requested to make a donation to the S80 Grand Piano Maintenance Fund. The program is provided by the S80 WA Association, which owns the S80 Grand Piano as a training boat. The coaches are volunteers from the S80 fleet, and other keelboat fleets.
