What's on this week: 1 December 2020
From Saturday 5th December and for the foreseeable future, Covid contact registers must be maintained by certain businesses of which SoPYC is one.
Covid tracing registers will be a part of our lives just about everywhere we go. If COVID-19 is detected in the WA community, contact registers help to protect us all by enabling the WA Health Contact Team to quickly identify and assist anyone that may have been exposed to COVID-19.
We will be using the Safe WA App and will have a paper-based register too. Everyone entering the clubhouses – senior or centreboard is required to sign on either through the QR code app or the hard copy register.
The on water office and sailing academy (as well as the galley volunteers) are also obliged to have registers for sailors, students, parents and Sailability participants and carers to register. The QR codes are located at many points around the buildings from entrances to particular rooms, Yachtsmans Bar, Quarterdeck, Marquees, etc. Data will be kept for 28 days and then destroyed unless it is required by WA Health Department in the event of a person on site being identified as being a carrier.
Presently, we have not extended the need to record personal and private social guests on members vessels. This may be adjusted.

Message from the Archive Research Team
We are appealing to members to look through old photo albums, boxes in the back of cupboards and out in the garage to help create an archive for the Club marking the 75-year celebrations. If you find anything you think the team might like to see please contact the Archive Research Team, Bernie Kaaks, Rick Steuart and Amanda Watson. The era we are looking into specifically at this stage is the new Club 1970 – 1980. If members have any old Year Books, Soundings or newsletters pre 2000 we would love to hear from you.
