Dear Members,
Many of you will be excited about the return of intrepid sailor Jon Sanders (81) who will end his 11th solo circumnavigation of the globe at sea on his yacht Perie Banou II in Fremantle on Sunday 31st January. During the 'No Plastic Waste' voyage, Jon has been filtering ocean water daily from his yacht Perie Banou II for microplastic analysis at Curtin University.

Fremantle Port is hosting a Welcome Home Jon. It will be a great afternoon on the water and on Victoria Quay for the whole family.

  • You are invited to watch his victory lap of the Inner Harbour and join the celebration at Victoria Quay.
  • There will be entertainment and other activities, including the first Sunday Session at B Shed and E Shed Markets.
  • The Maritime Museum will be open. Spectators may be particularly interested in visiting the Jon Sanders exhibit.
  • Approximate timing of events:
    • 1.30PM Jon Sanders expects to cross the finish line
    • 2.30PM Jon Sanders arrives in Fremantle Port for a victory lap of the Fremantle Inner Harbour
    • 3.30 PM departs harbour for Fremantle Sailing Club, where his journey began in November 2019.
