CENTREBOARD CLUBHOUSE EXPANDED PURPOSE!

Members will be interested to learn that the Centreboard Clubhouse has changed it's core use recently, becoming almost exclusively a sail training facility. It is timely therefore that we acknowledge the change in the buildings' use both now and in the future, and be aware of the new occupants - coaches and sail training students. The change means that this space is now somebodies office and for students, a place of learning, requiring an appropriate level of thoughtfulness and respect.

Whilst making this request it is acknowledged that in the past a good deal of sailing gear (boats, boards, sails and masts) have been left in the hall, however a specialised container is now in place and will accommodate this gear.

I know members are in support of the Club's planned aims to improve sailing and sail training within the club and also the greater community. As members, we need to understand the fresh needs and direction of this part of the Club and back it up by ensuring we respect the building, its use and its contents.

Thank you all.

Stephen Grover, Centreboard Captain

Last weekend SoPYC Ocean Racing Committee members Cherry Callcott and Michael Giles herded 40 diehard, dedicated and somewhat deprived Geraldton …
