Dear Members and Friends,
It is with great sadness that I announce the passing of Club Member, Ronald Davenport.
Ron had been battling declining health issues for the last few years and finally succumbed to them on Friday evening, passing away peacefully at the age of 90.

Ron initially joined SoPYC as Reciprocal Member from Whitford’s Sea Sports Club in 1989 before joining the club as a Full Member in 1993. Ron had several vessels but will be well known for owning the noisiest Bertram 35 on the river, Silhouette.

Ron loved his boating and was heavily involved in Power Yacht Time Trialling in which he was very competitive, winning the Club Consistency Championship in 1998 & 2007 and a State Championship in 2007.

Ron’s passion for Time Trialling was demonstrated off the water as much as it was on water with his dedication and commitment to the Club’s Power Yacht Committee, and the Power Yacht Committee of YWA where he was Chairman for a number of years. He was a true Gentleman in all aspects of life, he will be sadly missed.

On Behalf of the Flag Officers, Management Committee, Power Yacht Committee, Staff and Members I extend our sincere condolences to his wife Faye, family and friends.
