Dear Members,

We are all looking forward to the food and beverage activities starting up this Saturday lunchtime and staff have been busy setting up rooms and doing all the housekeeping tasks needed after the weeks of inactivity. Due to flooding late last week the Yachtsmans Bar will not be open until the damage has been repaired. However, in its place the Ward Room will be the bar area for a few weeks. Dining will be conducted in the Ballroom and bookings should be made through the office on 9364 5844. The Ward Room can accommodate up to 75 members and the Ballroom 100 members.

With the return of food and beverage, there are still restrictions in place which the club needs to comply with so the Management Committee and staff will appreciate your patience and understanding while we are operating under the current health and physical distancing requirements of Stage 3. These requirements will also have an impact on the on-water activities which will be communicated shortly as we are trying to get back on the water as soon as Wednesday next week with the caveat that all our planning and health obligations must be in place before we commence. There is ample signage around the Club and Notices explaining what is required will be place in rooms, aboard vessels and start boxes etc.

As an indication but by no means the full list, Stage 3 Covid Plan Rules that we will be abiding by will be:

  • Physical distancing of one and a half metres
  • Two metres square per person for the Ward Room, Ballroom and meeting rooms
  • Strict hygiene practices of regular hand washing or sanitising with sanitiser dispensers strategically located around the clubrooms
  • Contact Tracing to record names, email and telephone of members in the bar and dining areas
  • Contactless payments and charging so staff will be asking members to handle their own FOBs and credit cards
  • Appropriate PPE to be worn by staff and table clearing may be done once members have left the table after eating
  • Regular cleaning of hard surfaces - handles, table and bar surfaces, EFTPOS machines etc.
  • Change Rooms and showers to be closed until restrictions are further eased
  • SoPYC will have cleaning routines in place for RIBs, club boats, equipment used for training. This will be carried out by coaches and bosuns
  • On their own vessels, members will need to have their own hygiene routines in place that comply with the Sport and Recreation requirements for keeping crew and skippers safe. Information will be available on the website.
  • Contact Tracing of members and guests participating in on-water activities for keelboat sailing, off the beach sailing and training. This will include parents and guardians on site while children are participating in club sailing and learn to sail courses. Please note that members using the bar or dining facilities will also be required to provide Contact Tracing when they enter the Clubhouse
  • Unfortunately, there cannot be any gatherings for results until the Stage 3 restrictions eased. We believe that Stage 4 is the soonest this can happen
Importantly, for all members, the IN gate and OUT gate will remain closed (as they have been throughout the shut down) so all members will need their FOB keys at all times and will need to meet any guests they have invited to the Club. Lisenced Contractors will also have their own FOB keys. Please don’t try and “run the gates” as they have been damaged by cars doing just that and the out gate has been maliciously damaged by a 4WD driving through it late one night. If, for any reason your key doesn’t work, please get it checked by the office during business hours.

We look forward to seeing you unless – of course - you are feeling unwell or have any of the symptoms associated with being infected with the virus or have recently returned from overseas. If this is the case, please stay at home and or have yourself assessed for the virus.

Kind Regards,
South of Perth Yacht Club
