COFFEE POINTERS I WHAT'S ON THIS WEEK

12 May 2020

Dear reader,

Corona Virus Updates

In recent days the Australian Government and Western Australian Government have relaxed the current set of Covid-19 restrictions. As most of the community is aware the size of gatherings has increased and some restrictions on physical activity have been relaxed. The social distancing rules still apply with 1.5m between individuals wherever we are. Inside premises, the requirement is 4m2 per person. WA clubs are seeking clarification on what boating activities can resume and when as we fall under two classifications – community club and non-contact sport. As soon as we hear, we will communicate with members.

Hospitality venues are permitted to have 20 people for seated meals per venue and no bar trading. This is unfortunately too low to justify opening the clubhouse for members to enjoy the amenity of the club. This has become a significant issue for many clubs and hospitality venues in Perth. Hopefully, the review of restrictions in mid-June will see a further relaxing of restrictions such that we will be able to open the doors of the clubhouse to members.

Junior and youth, single handed training commenced last Sunday and will continue within strict guidelines. The Head Coach is communicating directly via Team App to members about training on Tuesday and Fridays.

Wheelbarrows

The storms last week were a timely reminder as to one of the reasons why members are asked to bring the wheelbarrows back to shore. Wheelbarrows that were left on the jetties and fingers ended up in the river. This causes a problem for vessels using the marina, river, the environment and the club. Wheelbarrows should be taken back to …
