SoPYC Offshore Report
Endorfin is a Sydney 47 Cruiser Racer, purchased by Mike and Chris Giles in March 2013. She is crewed by a core group of friends who have sailed together offshore for more than 20 years, with the oldest in his 70’s.
Endorfin has sailed extensively offshore in events, locally in WA, the Eastern States and overseas. These events include the 2014 Sydney Hobart in which she finished a credible 26th from 91 entries on IRC Handicap, followed by Port Lincoln Race Week 2015, where unfortunately due to hull issues did not fare quite so well.
Endorfin was entered in the 2015 Fremantle Bali Race where she sustained some hull damage and as a result, underwent some repairs and a number of structural changes to improve comfort and performance of the Yacht.
In 2017 she again competed in Fremantle Bali Race, finishing 2nd overall and 3rd on IRC Handicap. She was then cruised through Indonesia to Darwin, where she competed in the 2017 Darwin- Dili Race winning Line Honours, IRC and Performance handicaps against much larger competitors. She then returned to Darwin where she competed in the Darwin-Ambon Race and finished a credible 2nd overall, again winning IRC handicap against larger competitors.
Endorfin continues to race competitively Offshore in WA and is in the early stages of planning another assault on the Fremantle Bali, Darwin Dili and Darwin Ambon Races in 2020.
