We are saddened to inform you of the passing of Colin Wilson on Sunday 30th December, 2018. Colin passed away at Parkview Age Care.

On behalf of the Flag Officers, Management Committee and staff, we extend our sincere condolences to his family.

Colin was a 56-year member of SoPYC having joined the Club in 1962 shortly after the Club relocated from Olives Grove to Applecross. Colin has a long and illustrious involvement with the Club having been an Ordinary member and serving as Commodore in 1973, 1974. He then stepped into the role of Managing Secretary immediately after his stewardship as Commodore. Colin was Managing Secretary until 1987, having held the role for 13 years.

He had an active role in the Power Yacht section for more than 45 years and for many years was part of the time trialling start team religiously setting the clocks each Saturday and assisting the Race Officers. Since 2013, Colin has introduced the Colin Wilson Perpetual Trophy to the Club which was present in the races throughout the seasons.

The funeral for Colin will be held on Wednesday 9 January 2019, at Seasons Funeral Chapel in Canning Vale at 10.00am.

Colin will be remembered with great fondness by many members and staff.
