Carol Shannon, the CEO of the STS Leewin Foundation, took time out of her busy schedule to update SoPYC members on the progress being made in repairing the iconic sail training ship after she was severely damaged by an out-of-control container ship during a winter storm six months ago.

Leewin II has a special significance to our Club – the naval architect responsible for drawing her fine lines was our Vice Patron, Len Randell OAM. With assistance from Andrew Forrest’s Minderoo Foundation, the ship will be repaired and returned to service, once again offering adventure sailing voyages to a wide section of the community, including some of the less privileged.
