We’re Back!

Did you hear that we’re back in business? Following the State Government’s implementation of Phase 3 from last Saturday 6th June, on-water events are gradually coming back on line. Please see below for specific event information.

 

Contact Tracing

In line with COVID safety requirements, all persons involved with Club events need to be recorded as a participant on the day.

  • Keelboat Racing – Contact tracing is done via TopYacht. This is the link: http://tymob.net.au/1127. This link will stay the same until the start of the Summer Season. Click here for a User’s Guide.
  • Power Yacht – Skippers need to ensure that all persons onboard be recorded for tracing purposes. Click here for the link.
  • Off The Beach Boats – All Applecross Cup competitors will Sign On/Off using a unique link included in the Notice of Race / SI’s.

Post Event Presentations

There will be no presentations on the day following a Club event until further notice, however there will be dining available in the Ballroom. As seating is strictly limited to 100 persons, it is highly advisable to book ahead. Please click here. The upstairs Ward Room will be available for drinks only and limited to 75 persons. Please ensure your hands are sanitized as directed at each entrance.

The Centreboard Galley, Changerooms and Showers are to remain closed until further notice.


JANE BROOK WINES MIDWEEK AUTUMN SERIES – starts tomorrow!

This event will now consist of non-consistency races. Please refer to Notice to Competitors. All going well, the Winter Series will be run as per the Red Book and will remain as a series. Boats already entered in the Midweek Series are not required to enter again.


E-RACING – now on Thursdays

With real wet racing recommencing on Wednesdays, the Club will now run e-racing on Thursdays starting at 2pm. There are still spots available if you wish to join in.

DF 95 REMOTE CONTROL RACING – starts Friday 12th June

Racing will recommence as normal from this Friday afternoon in the Pond.


Canning Bridge IGA Frostbite Series – starts Sunday 21 June

The Sailing Instructions and Course Sheets are now available online. Please ensure you are using these new course sheets and dispose of any old copies.

There has been a 3rd course added for all fleets which essentially is there for those really light days. Please click here for course 3 diagrams.

2020 COFFEE POINT MARINE POWER YACHT TIME TRIALS – starts Saturday 27 June

Skipper’s please note that there are 2 online forms that require your attention.

  1. The Season’s Nomination – a once off submission. Click here to see who has nominated. If you are yet to nominate, please click here.
  2. The Contact Tracing form – this form needs to be completed for every Club event you compete in. The Skipper completes this form and adds contact details for every person also onboard. Please click here for the online form.

APPLECROSS CUP SERIES – starts Sunday 28 June

The Notice of Race and registrations will be out shortly, but in the meantime here are the race dates:

  • Sunday 28 June – 1st warning @ 1300
  • Sunday 12 July – 1st warning @ 1300
  • Sunday 26 July – 1st warning @ 1300
  • Sunday 09 August – 1st warning @ 1300
  • Sunday 23 August – 1st warning @ 1300
  • FINALS Saturday 12 September – AM races
  • FINALS Sunday 13 September – PM races

Schedule of Events 2020-2021

Planning for next season’s sailing program is well underway. The draft Schedule has been updated and is available for Member’s to view via the Member’s Portal. Check that your events have been slotted in and start getting ready for the 75th SoPYC Sailing Season.

THE RACING RULES OF SAILING

Here’s an update on the next RRS.

The current edition of the Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS) is 2017-2020. It is revised and published every four years by World Sailing and the new edition RRS 2021-24 will take effect on 1 January 2021. Rest assured there will be further notifications on this from various sources.

This week we welcome a panel of Sydney Hobart Yacht Race crew to discuss how they worked their way up to doing this race, and their experience with the event.
