Schweppes Little Wheel Match Racing Regatta

The teams have now been finalised and they are:

  1. Team 27
  2. Team Segnut
  3. Team H28
  4. Team Power

Teams are able to book training sessions on BW8’s via the event webpage. First round of the Little Wheel begins on Friday 7th February at 4:30pm in the Canning River.

 

Match Racing Rules Session

Monday 03 February 2020 in the Heritage Room from 6:00pm. Everyone interested in learning about the specifics of match racing rules are welcome. Christina Heydon (National Judge, State Umpire and State Race Officer) will run you through everything you need to know in preparation for the Little Wheel.

 

Warren Jones Regatta 27th to 31st Jan 2020

Among the 12 teams representing club’s around Australia and overseas is SoPYC’s sole entry consisting of the skipper, Conor Nicholas, Ryan Sherburn, Liam Seagreen, Kai Coleman, Finn O’Dea & Will Drew. Keep an eye on the results – click here.

 

The Billy Run 

If you are intending to join in the race or rally to TCYC, Rockingham over the Labour Day Long Weekend (Sat Feb 29), it is recommended that you book a mooring for your boat in advance.

Windward / Leeward Series 

Saturday 1st February, Division 1 & Division 2 boats will be racing at RFBYC as part of the Combined Clubs Invitation Series, while other divisions and classes will be competing in the SoPYC Windward / Leeward Series. For further details, please click here.

 

39th 125 State Championships

Royal Perth Yacht Club is welcoming entries for the upcoming Mini Series 2020 Dinghy Regatta on the 1st – 2nd of February 2020

Bunbury and Return Ocean Race

Fremantle to Bunbury and return, part of the Ocean Racing WA Blue Water Series, Siska Series and RFBYC 43rd Farrawa Cup Series. Hosted by Royal Freshwater Bay Yacht Club with the assistance of regional club partner, Koombana Bay Sailing Club.

Invitational Twilight Time Trial 

The RFBYC Power Committee would like to invite all time triallers, power and sail, and their guests to join them for a summer twilight time trial and dinner. Please nominate by Monday 10 February by adding your details to the form located in the foyer outside the On Water Group office. HMAS Perth Memorial Regatta

Registrations are now open for the annual HMAS Perth Memorial Regatta held at Nedlands Yacht Club on Sunday 16 February 2020. Open to small dinghies, medium & high performance dinghies and catamarans, cruisers and trailer sailers. Please click here for full details.

Speakeasy Series

Australian Sailing WA presents a series of evenings for Instructors, Coaches, Race Officials and Mark Layers, Umpires and Judges and Measurers.

Officials have the opportunity to engage in professional development, ask questions, network and learn from each other.

These sessions are free to attend, some light refreshments and nibbles will be provided.

First Aid Courses

Need to brush up on your First Aid skills? St John Ambulance will be running a full day course (Provide First Aid certificate) on Tues 28th July 2020 and for those requiring only a CPR Refresher, there will be a course running on Tues 21st July 2020. RST Course for Women

Did you know that out of the 270,000 RST holders in WA, only 17% are women? SoPYC recognise the need to encourage our female members to confidently take up skippering of power boats and in so doing are offering an RST course for women only. Please note that the presentations usually held in the Quarterdeck area on the main clubhouse following the days racing, will now be held at the Centreboard Clubhouse on the following dates:

SoPYC Boats Looking For Crew

The Crew Finder page has been updated once again. This time the Boats Looking For Crew list has been refreshed. From this point onwards, Boats Looking For Crew submissions will remain online for a period of 60 days. During that time our Crew Co-ordinator duo of Brian Saleeba and Bruce Uren will do their best to fill your requirements. If after 60 days, you are still needing crew, you will need to submit again.
