Offshore aficionado, James Keating was a clear winner last week, putting a temporary dampener on 14 y.o. Opi champ Aaron Teo’s ambitions.

Against 15 other competing boats, Choombies beat them all in every race. A clear contender for the inaugural Club Championship on 13 May 2020. Read on for further details.

Currently the specific event is the Midweek E-Series held every Wednesday from 1400.

The new race times now include a longer intermission between races for those quick trips to the fridge

  • Race 1 starts 1400
  • Race 2 starts 1420
  • Race 3 starts 1440
  • Race 4 starts 1500

Zhik E-Sailing National Challenge

Australian Sailing with the support of sailing apparel manufacturer Zhik, has organised state and national playoffs. The finals will include some of Australia’s elite sailors such as European Laser Champion and Tokyo 2020 representative Matt Wearn. Australian Sailing affiliated clubs are invited to hold their own Club E-Championships whereby an overall winner will go on to represent their club in the State Championship 22 – 24 May and then the National Championship 28 May 2020.

Club Championship

SoPYC has stepped up to the plate and has announced the inaugural E-Sailing Club Championship to be held on Wednesday 13 May 2020. Competitors already competing in the Midweek E-Series are invited to sign up and be prepared to represent the Club on those State and National Championships on the given dates.

This week’s guest speaker is Will Ryan. Will is an Olympic medal winner and member of the Australian Sailing Team, and will discuss his journey into sailing and to the Olympics, his tips for performing under pressure and how he’s managing the disappointment of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic postponement.
