A club like ours is heavily dependent on volunteers.  Without them, the Club simply could not function. To demonstrate how highly the Club values its volunteers, a BBQ last Friday evening, hosted by Commodore Phil Warwick, Vice Commodore John Midolo, Rear Commodores Carl Pettersson and Michael Cook, was attended by more than 150 volunteer members.

Guests assembled on the lawns by the Centreboard Clubhouse, where cloth-covered round tables were set out for them, they enjoyed a quiet beverage on an incredibly beautiful and warm evening, while Flag Officers donned aprons and took over the cooking duties.

It was an opportunity for many diverse groups to spend some time together.  The dedicated start teams for Saturdays, Sundays and Wednesdays, the Power Yacht start team, protest panel members and mark layers mixed freely to enjoy the night.

The only formality for the evening was a short speech of thanks by the Commodore, in which he warmly praised the volunteers who play such a critical role in the Club’s activities and thanked them for their service.

Congratulations to our hard-working Flag Officers for making our valued volunteers feel special. Let’s hope there is an opportunity to do this again in the future.
