Last weekend saw the first of this year’s double-header time trial events, with the ‘weather gods’ unfavourable conditions earlier this year forcing the cancellation of one event, thus the Seafarers Measure (Navigator/Skipper event) and the re-run of the Bob Blanckensee Memorial Trophy falling on Saturday and Sunday respectively.

Luckily, this past weekend was very favourable.

The Seafarers Measure saw 10 confident navigators take the helm from their regular skippers to test their skills. It was great to see new-comers to time trialling, Deon Moore and David Markham (Living The Dream) taking our first place (and least points), closely followed by Jared Tickle and Mark Hayman (Innuendo) and in third, Mary Vukovich and Darryl Wilkes (Out On Business).

Sunday’s re-run of the Bob Blanckensee Memorial Trophy, presented by Robert’s son and granddaughter, Ian and Victoria, was definitely worthy of a ‘bell-ring’, with Neredes II (Ian Blanckensee and David Morrison) taking out his own trophy on 10 points.

Team Dalusional (Troy Dalglish and Dee Kelly) were back in fine form after Dee’s absence the prior week with least points, 8 points lost.

For the fleet positions;

Starboard fleet;

1st: Neredes II (Ian Blanckensee and David Morrison) – 10 points

2nd: Jola (Dave Millard and Mick Mason ) – 15 points

3rd: The Boardroom (Steve and Diane Clarke) – 25 points.

Port Fleet;

1st: Out in Business (Darryl Wilkes and Mary Vukovich) – 14 points

2nd (on a countback): Indiana (Brian and Tina Smith) – 14 points

3rd: Trailer Trash (Paul Stott and Peter Black) – 19 points.

A very special thank you to our starter and start team (John Meldrum, Frank Dalglish, Barbara Dalglish, Greg Power, Valerie Power, Mal King and Margaret King), as well as our Power Administrator, Bernie Kaaks, for working so hard over the weekend to ensure these two events ran smoothly.

Just a reminder that this Thursday, 1st August is the Power Committee’s AGM at 7:30pm in the Committee Room. All members are welcome to attend and be part of this strong and supportive team.
