August Moon Shines!

Tony Walther and Steve Leech took advantage of a perfect, sunny afternoon to complete the course with the loss of 13 points, just one over “least points lost”, to claim victory in the Sherwell Family Trophy time trial.

Newcomer Nathan Bergmans, with Julie Walther as his navigator, was welcomed in his first time trial with a bottle of port as his boat Chillin’ scored a very respectable 95 points for the wooden spoon.

Amazon ended her brief retirement early, Steve returning with Sharon Horne to show that they’re as competitive as ever with the loss of 13 points of the stick and third on handicap.

Second place, and least points lost, went to Jason and Caroline (again!). Tikkityboo showed last season that she was going to be a force to be reckoned with and her performance so far proves that she will be an awesome competitor in 2022.

Beryle Sherwell, looking as elegant as ever, was on hand to present the family’s trophy, supported by her daughter, Dianne Ward and husband, past commodore Paul.

We also hear that Freshie’s Rear Commodore has issued a challenge, saying that her club is ready to claim the Teams Trophy this year. I guess we’ll see about that!

Your scribe Amanda is in Tahiti, meeting Garry, Brett and Dilana. Garry, who is sailing back to Australia from Mexico with Brett has grown an impressive “Father Christmas” beard which should see him in strong demand come December 25!
