Sunshine, blue skies… next minute downpour and soaked! 22 boats competed in this year’s event. The start box radioed advice to alert competitors of 2 Sampson spit posts due to DoT woks. This caused minor confusion as the instruction was to round the mark closest to the freeway. Tikkittyboo took a very quick spin over to check out the location of the 2 posts, which cost Jason the Bent Prop.  Maybe the spin also gave the hull a good clean, as Tikkettyboo, Jason Claricoates and Caroline James also won the Robert E Blanckensee trophy. Ian Blanckensee and granddaughter, Victoria presented the trophy in honour of the late Bob Blanckensee, who was tragically killed in a motor vehicle accident 1994 in his prime of life, when Victoria was just 11. Ian competes on the Randell 38, Neredes II, with its distinct timber topsides, that Bob launched in 1978.

Scores for most of the fleet were in the mid to high teens with the exception of just 2 boats scoring single digits. Congratulations to Claude and Liz Mancini for collecting their very first Least Points Flag with just 6 points lost. Troy Dalglish on Dalussional lost 7 points.  Claude and Liz are still can’t believe their score, are off to have the flags framed.  Congratulations to Aperitivo.
