The “Coffee Point Cup” Stand Up Paddleboard (SUPs) Event

The inaugural ‘Coffee Point Cup’ Stand Up Paddleboard event was held on Friday Night the 31st of January 2020. 8 teams of 5 zigzagged, crashed and swam around a figure eight course to the jeers and laughs of a large onshore audience enjoying themselves in the Beachside Marquee to the Commentary of our very own Vice Commodore Michael Cook.

The teams consisted of a vast array of our membership, of all ages and all sections. All teams had a great time and thoroughly enjoyed themselves.

This event was dreamt up, to engage the membership and provide entertainment and encourage members to come down to the club and enjoy a beautiful summers evening over a few drinks and a meal. To have an event supported by so many members was fantastic. The Quarterdeck was full and the atmosphere of members enjoying themselves was great to see.

We would like to thank all those members who competed or turned up to watch this event. We would also like to thank Denis, Jack and the other behind the scenes volunteers for their help and support to run such an event.

If you missed out, don’t worry there are plans underway to hold another fun evening towards the end of summer early spring.

Di Dunbar put a team together in the last 48 hours prior to the race & had a win.
