Cookie… From Feather Duster to Rooster in just one week

After taking the wooden spoon last week, VC Michael and Maria Cook on M&Ms won first and least points flags with a score of 7 points total of 15 handicap points.

Di and Steve Clarke, The Board Room were Port fleet winner with 18 Handicap points

Amazon And Magnifique were 2nd with 21 & 23 points in each fleet

Dalusional and Halidaze third on handicap with 22 & 24 respectively

Enthusiastic new member Jim onboard La Barca was awarded the wooden spoon and port with a score of 162

Bent Prop Port was awarded to me for messing up our take off time…50 seconds, 45 secs… I was doubting…after 15 years with Steve as navigator on Amazon, I ought to get this right. Steve was sure we were disqualified and/or 5 seconds early, I didn’t think so and luckily the starters agreed, giving us a zero on the start. I’ve learned the rules, say a boat is on course 50 meters from the start line which equates to about 19 or 20 seconds out from the start box, my indecision and Steve’s zig zag manoeuvre in response was at 45 seconds out, so luckily we earned no penalty.

This Saturday…1st State Heat at RPYC. Bring on the Interclub competition.  Other clubs are recording good numbers of boats starting. Competitors are invited back to Royal Perth for results and refreshments.
