From the Start Box … radio checks…DON’T CALL US …WE’LL CALL YOU

To ensure all SoPYC competitors are tuned in, the start box will make random checks on  VHF Ch.69 prior to the start gun. Competitors are NOT required to radio check or log on. Please do not use ch.69 for chit chat.  Note. CPYC Heat use Ch.77

A small fleet of 17 boats braced the windy weather. The interesting new course caught out 2 boats given wrong side of mark penalties. Bent Prop and Port was awarded to PC Phil Warwick, nominated by the starters for excessive speed in the pre-start area after returning from run-up practice.  Despite the misdemeanour, Phil and Pam Warwick on Time Out collected first place flag with a total score of 11 points.  Dalusional, Troy Dalglish and Victoria Blanckensee collected second place flag with 16 points and Least Points flag with a 6 off the stick. Third place flag was awarded to Chilly Mussel, Steve and Julie Leech with 17 points.

A new award to encourage more competitors is the “Magic Number“ bottle of wine. The start team select a random number each week which represents a score that a competitor comes closest to but not exceed. The inaugural award went to Ships and Giggles, Mike and Angela Irving.

Members enjoyed being back in Yachties Bar for results and the ambiance of the newly reopened Quarterdeck dining area.
