PC Guy Skinner protests “No No. Not the Fastest flag, not Thanet!“

Yachties would appreciate the irony of PC Guy Skinner and Richard Evans onboard Thanet, the slowest boat in the Power fleet, being accidentally presented the Fastest flag instead of Least Points flag for their loss of just 4 points over Saturday’s long, bumpy course.

The new course sent the fleet on a 2nd circuit of the river after a long run down to Bricklanding and the hairpin turn to Lucky Bay then back up to Sampson. The RFBYCs fleet crossing our fleet adding to the boat wash.

Fleet numbers on Saturday were lower and unfortunately two boats retired due to mechanical issues after the start. Claude Mancini whose boat Aperitivo had been up for maintenance, thought it too late to request a start time on Friday, only to learn on the jetty after the event, he was listed on the start sheet and could have competed.

Least Points honours from previous weeks State Heat were shared by PC Guy Skinner and Richard Evans onboard Thanet with Tracy Leveridge-Smith and Anthony Smith onboard Brazen. These teams are battling out top position in the CPYC Heat series.

Jason Claricoates and Caroline James onboard Tikkity Boo were tickled pink with their first place flags in  the starboard fleet with 17 points, with ever competitive, couple Lynne and John Cooper onboard Purrfect 3rd place with 20 points.

Runners up, on countback in the Port Fleet were Amazon, Steve Wall and Amanda Watson also with 17 points, with Brian and Tina Smith onboard Indiana 3rd place with 18 points.
