Now in it’s 2nd year, the 2018 Regatta was bigger and better…..masterminded and organised by Heidi Kenney.  50 kids aged 6-11 years, registered and were eager to get started by 9.30am Sunday morning. Each participant received a goodie bag full of activities information, hydration water bottles, their course sheets, club hat and an auto inflate PFD. This was made possible with generous donations by Wilson Marine, Vassallo Industries and our Grand Sponsors. Thank you for supporting Junior Power Boat Training.

The event is a mix of fun, skill based safety and confidence activities including learning nautical terms, radio ‘log-on’ procedure and basic knot tying followed by the on-water course. Ribs and tinnies skippered by the kids (with an adult onboard) ran a course from the Centreboard beach around and under the Canning Bridge and back.

On return to the beach, the kids tucked into a sausage sizzle and hamburger lunch cooked by volunteers Mark and Jarrad (a big thank you  to Tony Walther arranging  Spud Shed donation of snags, patties and onions.) The Fremantle Sea Rescue and Water Police Boats welcomed visitors on board and flares demonstration went ahead as planned.
After a jump on the Nemo bouncy castle, it was back to the Beachside Marquee for presentations of trophies  by Vice Commodore, John Midolo and Grand Sponsors Chairman Cally Browning.

Congratulations Heidi and thank you to the 30 plus volunteers for again making it a fantastic event.
